Since the automakers' brand is becoming more tied to the in-cab experience and their software, there is a strong desire to differentiate through their infotainment software. Given this, the automakers crave technologies that are strong in the mobile space, which currently includes HTML5 and Android. In a few years, there may well be other technologies.
